Good to know about Tinted Film

  • Darkness and heat rejection are not the same

A darker film blocks more visible light, but how much heat it blocks depends on the film type. Some lighter films reject more heat than darker basic ones, which matters for the windscreen, where the JPJ limit is strict.

  • Know the main film types

Dyed films mainly cut glare. Metallised films reject more heat but can interfere with phone and GPS signals. Carbon and ceramic films reject heat without metal, so signals pass through normally.

  • Aftercare in the first few days

New film needs a few days to cure. Keep the windows up during that time, and clean tinted glass with a soft cloth and an ammonia-free cleaner so the film doesn't scratch or fade.

Questions about Tinted Film

Which tint darkness is legal in Malaysia?

Under JPJ rules (Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Certain Types of Glass) Rules 1991, as amended), the front windscreen must let through at least 70% of visible light and the front side windows at least 50%. JPJ has stated there is no light-transmission limit for the rear side windows and rear windscreen. Rules can change, so we check the current limits with you before fitting - ask us which films suit your car.

Can you remove my old tint?

Yes, old film can be removed before new film is fitted. Let us know when you book so we plan the time for it.

How much does car tint cost?

The price depends on the film type, the size of the car and whether the windscreen is included. WhatsApp us your car model and which windows you want tinted for a quote.

What happens if my tint is too dark?

JPJ can measure tint with a light meter during roadside checks, and non-compliant tint can lead to a fine of up to RM2,000. Choosing a film within the limits avoids that.
